Before, a pack of one peso peanut snack was so plumb. A single package was enough to satisfy my craving. Eating five packages could made my tummy full.
Now, a single pack is so thin. It contains only few nuts. I can finish it in few seconds. Open the package, pour the nuts to my palm and munch in.
I was eating the piso snack I was talking about. I examine the package and noticed the net weight. The declared weight was six grams. I wonder if value was exact. Deviating slightly is forgivable. As far as I remember the product net weight should be at least 80% of the declared value.
I got the digital scale and weighed the nuts. The weight was only four grams. The 80% of the declared weight is 4.8 grams. Less than 20% discrepancy might be a machine error. However, more than is likely intentional.
Discrepancy in food weight is very common. Buy meat, fruits, vegetables, fish, sugar and rice. Weigh all of them at home. I bet most of them have weight discrepancy.
